what is an artist?

Its hard to actually define the term 'artist' when there are so many possibilities to whom or what an artist might be. I think that an artist is someone who expresses their feelings and/or thoughts out loud. Whether they are expressing themselves with a pencil on paper, or playing an instrument at a concert, artists are always conveying a feeling or message to their audience. Artists are usually seen as people with exceptual talent in one of the arts, but I don't think that you neccesarily need to be highly skilled in a certain area to be an artist and i think that being an artist shouldnt be confined to an 'art' category but as a broader term in which anyone could be considered an artist as long as they are expressing themselves in their own way.
