What is an Artist?

I have a hard time defining art so it makes it that much harder defining what an artist is. I feel an artist someone that creates whether it is shoes to cermaics to electronics. They invent and create objects something that is can be seen visually whether through a video or painting. Many careers can be seen as an artist such as carpenters or advertisers. There is an artist in all of us.
