i think that today, individually and artistically, people have a lot more of a chance to succeed in a world like today just because of what is most in demand. Artist were never really recognized that much 40 years ago when it came to major marketing jobs or anything of that nature. Of course your see the fine artists like salvador dali or andy warhol who have been recognized, but would people have looked at them as being the ceo's of major company's? The demand for the individual artist is in, we now control everything and anything the public see's. As far as being able to collaborate with other people, the technology has made it that much easier for us to talk to someone across the world a few time zones away from us. This is one of the most important things in the artist community as well, is to be able to talk to one another and get input on something that the other designer has never seen, so they can see it with fresh eyes.
